2011

Christian Andersen decides to set-up BOPA to address the opportunity for equity investments in smaller but sustainable MFIs in Asia – initial study trips with co-founder Kristian Pedersen to MFIs in Latin America to study best operational practice in MFIs.

2012

Several field visits in Asia to find good portfolio partners for BOPA. Fundraising for initial portfolio investment.

2013

BOPA’s official incorporation in Singapore. Investments completed in Vietnam, Cambodia and East Timor.

2014

BOPA makes investment in Kazakhstan and completes review of investment opportunities in Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan.

2015

Investments in Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan. Capital raise of USD 2.75 million completed with participation from Danish Institutional Investors. BOPA becomes member of Financial Inclusion Equity Council (FIEC) and Niroshani Sawanawadu joins as COO.
